This has been an interesting start to the school year. I've done 2nd grade for the past 3.5 years, and this year switched to 3rd. People keep asking how I like it, and honestly... I'm still on the fence.
It's hard to tell what's a difference between 2nd and 3rd, and what's just a difference in the personalities of this class and last year's class. I'm also still very much getting used to this curriculum, while still scrounging up enough books for my class.
I've also switched grade level teams, which has been interesting... they are pretty different than the 2nd grade team, and I am more grateful than ever for some of the wonderful coworkers at my school.
I was ready for a long weekend, to be sure, even though I was feeling pretty sick by the end of last week.
Weekend plans included a trip to Cincinnati, to see fireworks from a riverboat and watch a Reds baseball game with family, but... my car battery has died. And when a car breaks down on a Sunday of a holiday weekend, it's a liiiittle tough to get it worked on.
So, instead of a trip... the husband and I hunkered down on the couch, ordered cheese sticks from the local pizza place, ate fresh-baked Funfetti cookies, and watched Indiana Jones movies. Got to make the most of it, right?
On the plus side, I'm feeling almost all better! Are the germs catching up with anyone else, now that some of us are a few weeks in to the school year?
Link up with Farley's Currently if you haven't already :) And come back later this week for a place value freebie!
I love funfetti cookies! So sorry about your car problems, that is never fun! I taught third for four years, and loved it. Honestly, you won't notice a huge difference for the first few weeks, but after they adjust to being back to school, it is so awesome to see what all they can do! :)

Sorry to hear about the car. I gope it's an easy fix. We used to go to out to our porch to watch the fireworks. I miss Cinti.
ReplyDeleteLet me know how you like 3rd (later). My principal keeps asking me to switch.

I live in Cincy!! Those sounded like awesome plans but The Hubs and I love a good movie and pizza night too! It was probably best to stay home and relax too so you could kick the germs! Feel better

It has been MUCH TOO LONG since I paid you a visit. Can't wait for NFL to start as well. I have two drafts today (one with a bunch of bloggers). Got to figure out a way to study up and get my lesson plans done. YIKES :) Hugs friend. I hope all is well.

I am returning to a 2nd/3rd grade blend this year. I have enjoyed it in the past. But 2nd is probably always going to be my favorite:-)

I found you through Farley's currently party and am so glad I did! I also teach 3rd grade and love frogs. Stop by my blog and see me if you get a chance. As for loving/hating 3rd grade give it a little time and I'm sure you'll love it. I was a little skeptical at first but now I am thinking that my principal was way smarter than me when she "asked" me to move. I hope that your car is fixed soon, that's the pits! Have a great "short" week!!!

Sounds like you guys definitely made the best of an unexpected situation. I love Cinnamon Life too-I try to buy healthy cereals most of the time and treat myself to that every once in awhile! :)
